Transforming Computer Labs into Learning Labs

Transforming Computer Labs into Learning Labs

The project aimed at enabling adolescents; including those in marginalized communities, access to open-source educational content and tap into opportunities to improve learning outcomes in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics
(STEM) subjects.
In partnership with UNICEF Uganda and the  Ministry of Education and Sports, the project provided supplementary and complementary learning materials in 30 secondary schools across Uganda.
Through the Kolibri e-learning platform, the project leveraged the already existing secondary computer labs to provide offline-learning materials on a variety of topics including those that are not emphasized in the classroom. Maendeleo Foundation implemented the project in the selected ten government aided secondary schools in Hoima, Iganga and Kamuli where we achieved the following; –
installed Kolibri on 127 computers, trained 290 students and 55 teachers in the use of Kolibri and participated in the drafting of the National Elearning Strategy for Uganda.
